On 12 June the Embassy of Hungary organized a water industry promotion event in collaboration with the Hungarian Laoprojekt Ltd, celebrating the recent World Water Day.
On Saturday, 23 May 2026, from 10:30 AM, one of the most popular Hungarian animated films called „Cat City” will be screened at the French Institute in Vientiane. The film, first shown exactly 40 years ago in 1986, will be screened as part of the European Film Festival, in original Hungarian language with English and Lao subtitles. The admission is free. Everyone is warmly invited!
The Embassy of Hungary donated more than 200 books and publications to the National Library of Laos, including literature and children’s books in Hungarian, popular science for youth in English, as well as books and publications about Hungary in English.
On March 25, 2026, Lechner Knowledge Center Non-profit Ltd. of Hungary signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Land Administration and Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of the Lao PDR regarding cooperation in the areas of land management and land administration

Annual meeting of the Lao-Hungarian Friendship Association on 21st March 2026. The meeting discussed the last year's activity and defined its tasks for 2026. The Association comprises around 80 members, mostly the alumni members graduated from Hungarian universities in the 1980's. László Takács, Ambassador of Hungary and Zoltán Szabó, Deputy Head of Mission were present as well.
Ambassador László Takács and Deputy Head of Mission Zoltán Szabó, met on March 18 with Mr. Vathouniyom DOUANGMALA, Director General of the Institute of Foreign Affairs. The meeting focused on discussing cooperation between the training and research institutes of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, including the possibility of extending the validity of the existing MoU after 2027.
